Asher Y. Salmon M.D, Ph.D, MHA- is Head of the Department of International relations, Ministry of Health, Jerusalem, Israel. He's previously been Deputy Director at Hadassah University Hospital (Ein-Kerem) and Deputy C.E.O & Medical Director at Barzilai Medical Center.

Asher Salmon

MIKA SALMINEN

Mika Salminen is the Director of the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL). His expertise is as a virologist and the surveillance and control of communicable diseases, international health security, contagion preparedness, microbiology and public health policy.

 

 

KIMMO KOHVAKKA

Kimmo Kohvakka has served in the Finnish public safety and security services since 1991. His expertise covers risk management, resilience, societal preparedness, rescue services, civil protection and defence with all-of-society multi-disciplinary approach, and he has participated in numerous national development programmes in the area.

CHRIS HASSELL

David Christian Hassell serves as the Acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary and Senior Science Advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. He has earlier led research, development, testing, and acquisition of technical solutions to counter chemical and biological threats.

PAULA VANNINEN

Prof. Paula Vanninen is the director of Finnish Institute for Verification of the Chemical Weapons Convention (VERIFIN). Prof. Vanninen has been working in the Scientific Advisory Board of the OPCW (2010-2016) and its temporary working groups (2005-). She has focused on the research of sea dumped chemical weapons to explore the environmental and marine biota effects of CWAs leaking in the Baltic Sea.

Symposium Venue

The symposium venue, Sibelius Hall, is one of the largest wooden buildings built in Finland and is located on the shore of lake Vesijärvi, in city of Lahti.
Lahti was the European Green capital for 2021.
